We are independent engineers across Asia and five other countries who chose to work together: no managers, no middlemen, just people who care about the craft.

Freedomica

Freedomica started with a handful of freelance developers in Hong Kong who met reviewing each other’s code. Instead of opening an agency, we built a collective: everyone stays independent, but we share standards, reviews and clients.

The core of the team sits in Japan and Hong Kong. From there we opened bases in Germany, the UAE, Canada, Vietnam, the Philippines and Moldova, which gives us coverage across nearly every timezone.

All development happens remotely, and that is an engineering choice: decisions stay written, code goes through peer review, and anyone on the squad can pick up where someone else left off.

The first partners
Born in Hong Kong
COVID-19 forced the world remote. A few freelance developers in Hong Kong started sharing projects — no office, just code reviews, async chats and a shared commitment to quality.
2022
First major client
The Japan–Hong Kong axis
Engineers from Tokyo and Osaka joined through referrals and open source, forming the axis that still carries the collective today. We landed our first major FinTech client.
2023
40+ projects
From Asia to the world
Vietnam and the Philippines widened our timezone coverage. 40+ projects delivered and partnerships with AWS and Google Cloud.
